Moving

untitled

Ginger Green

So.... I moved to a new apartment at the end of August. Said new apartment does not have internet (yet) so I haven't been able to post anything because I'm strange and don't want to blog in public... Right now I'm in Bend, visiting for a few days during my two-week summer break (I didn't think it would ever come). I'm not sure what I'm going to do while I'm here but hopefully there will be a lot of time spent outside and perhaps some hiking and definitely some tea. I'm excited for the next few days to pan out. Hopefully I'll get to see some people I haven't seen all summer too. I'll try to get some internet soon, mostly so that I can watch movies again, but also so I can post things on here.

Some Things

Wood

Wood

Yesterday I had a conversation that made me realize a lot of things about myself that I usually try to ignore. It was a really good thing and I'm grateful that I had it, even if it wasn't the happiest. Sometimes you just need someone else to say the right things before you really see the whole thing.

The weather here is awful; it's freezing and wet out. Well, it isn't wet here in Portland, but it was quite rainy the entire drive from Bend back to Portland. Last weekend though we got some really nice, warm weather and I went up to my dad's for the day, that's where these pictures are from. I'm going to pick up a couple of rolls of film tomorrow. I don't know what's on them, I have a pretty big pile of film to get developed so it could be anything. I am pretty sure that one of them might have some pictures from my trip to the coast a while ago (as in February-ish), but I might be wrong. It's an exciting surprise.

Today

Pitcher

I am currently in Bend, watching my younger brother for the weekend. I love the light in my parent's house.

Today

Today I cleaned everything, well I'm still cleaning, but it will all be done before I go to bed. Right now I am drinking chai (yes, I do somehow plan on falling asleep later) and just finished putting up some Christmas lights, even though I am leaving for Bend tomorrow. Christmas gives me mixed feelings, I have a lot of really great childhood memories from the holidays, but lately, they aren't always so great. But we won't get into that. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about gifts this year, I love giving gifts (even though I feel like I am really horrible at it) but I'm really low on funds right now. Any ideas? Anyone?

Busy, busy

It's been a busy busy week, but it's all over with now. My finals were finished with this morning, so no more worrying about getting things done and studying. It feels so nice to have it all done with, though I have to admit, I am dreading my next term. I'm not going to have much time for anything, but I have three and a half weeks to relax and not worry about it. I can't wait to get back to Bend, there is snow on the ground right now. I am envisioning a winter break full of snowball fights, sledding, skiing, snowman building, and maybe a little ice skating. I'm not really sure how much of that I'll actually do, but I can always dream, right? I'm also hoping to see if I can get that canon camera up there to work, but to do that I need to get film... which I've been meaning to do since September, but with no more school, I might actually get around to it.

Apologies

I'm sorry I have been missing for the past few days, I have been busy working and just having fun (which I must say is one of the best things to be busy at). Anyway, yesterday, I spent the day in Eugene, helping Shawn to move some of his stuff over into his new place. It seems that while I was gone, autumn officially and completely arrived here in Bend. I'm going to have to go through the boxes I've already packed and find some jackets now, I was thinking the summer weather would last at least until I moved up to Portland again, but that is Central Oregon for you, you never know what the weather is going to do. I was also excited to see when I got back this morning that the mountains got at least a dusting of snow, they look even better now, and much cleaner. Anyway, I for some reason am not working much this week so, hopefully I'll be able to spend my time cleaning, packing, and having fun (I'm hoping for mostly that last one).

P.S. Aren't the counters in Shawn's new kitchen adorable? I love them.

Mountain Snobishness

I am a "mountain snob," according to a good friend of mine, and I must say I agree. Can you blame me, all these photos were taken half an hour or less from my home here, in Bend.

Bend Wanderings

The ceiling at Thump Coffee, every board has someone's wish on it. I make one almost everytime I go in there.
Delicious coffee from Thump.
In Drake Park.
If I ever have such a nice house with such a great porch, it most definately needs bright yellow chairs!
The window at one of my favorite stores Ironhorse.
My lemonade stands were never this cool.
Osprey nest and Osprey.

The Deschutes River.
My favorite wildflowers.

Geese rule the river-side parks of Bend.

I had the weekend off this week, which isn't something that normally happens, so I decided to go and wander around some of my favorite parts of Bend since it had been so long. It really seemed like a perfect summer day, for a while. As I walked through one neighborhood, there was even an ice cream truck! The music and kids running after it really made it seem like summertime, even if it was a little chilly.

Old Photos

So, upon returning to my house in Bend, I found a bunch of my old photos from four or five years ago, these ones just reminded me of summer, well not the first one, that one is what I want my hair to look like again... eventually. But it also is a lot like how the weather has been lately, very overcast. I don't even feel like it is summer yet. Tomorrow morning, though, I am going swimming which will be really nice.

Bend

This is one of my favorite places around Central Oregon, Tumalo Falls. It's a beautiful place, a little hard to get to, but definately worth it.
I have officially made it back to Bend, and thanks to my brother's amazing packing skills, so has all of my stuff (both the necessary and un-necessary). I am excited to start sharing somewhere that I am so close to, I really don't think the places you grow up ever leave you entirely, no matter how far you get from them. I need a few days to get everything in order and then I will be heading back to work, scooping ice cream. Hopefully I'll find time for some photos and posts in there.

Old

As the end of my school term comes closer and closer... I feel like it is creeping up on me and then is suddenly going to jump out of a bush and frighten me... I am looking forward, more and more, to going back to Bend for the summer. It's nice to be somewhere that you know intimately, but that still surprises you sometimes. I just want to be somewhere where I have hideouts for when I am upset or want some time alone and places where I can meet with old friends.
I also can't wait to visit all my favorite photo places and start shooting. Though it may be a cold summer... it snowed there yesterday, but i still can't wait to get back to home and leave work at work.
