While I was gone...

Lots seems to have happened since I decided to take my break. I caught the flu-cold thing that's been going around. Shawn came to visit, as did my family. I also made some chicken noodle soup that turned out fairly well. I've finally managed to get over being sick and I'm excited to see my family some more during Thanksgiving next week. Taking my break from the world of blogging made me realize some things about what I want this to be in the future. I also managed to catch up, for the most part on the giant and seemingly ever-growing pile of homework in my life. Anyway, I'm loving the cold weather right now and I can't wait to see snow soon.

Enjoy these bits and pieces...

Leaf
My warm sweaters and cozy scarves are out again and ready to be worn, it must be getting close to winter. There was ice out today, my shoes felt slippery on the frozen water as I walked through the crisp air of late October. November is coming soon and with it first snows and bitter winds. A ring of ruby and gold surrounds the trees, it is soon to be lost and their bare branches will be left to stand starkly alone in the cold landscape. Only their reflections on the frigid ponds and lakes will remain to keep them company, and one day even those reflections will be lost to the ice that allows no thoughtful penetrations into the depths.

Results

This is what has resulted from me staying up late and trying to create something I like. Which I was partly successful at. I just realized that I told Shawn today that I don't draw. Because I don't. Normally. And if I do they are not very good. I'm still a hypocrite, aren't I? Oh, well, I've gotten used to that. I think they look better in the pictures... which is a little sad... My favorite is by far the first one. Maybe I'll go to sleep now.
I've noticed that when I become very tired I either begin to ramble and use never-ending sentences, or, be short and to the point, like I was tonight, but now I'm getting rambly. Oh dear!

Late Nights

I was wandering through some old pictures and for some reason I really liked these three. They are all years old. But they are still somehow inspiring to me and I feel like they reflect something that I am trying to achieve in my photography. I don't know what that is.
I don't think I am going to sleep for a while tonight, though I have things to do tomorrow morning. I just want to make something... something I really like.

Oh dear!

Ok, so I lied, here I am, later the same day, posting again, but after this, I really am going to take a bit of a break. I just wanted to let anyone interested know that I posted some new postcards in my Etsy shop. Please at least take a look.

Thanks!

Invitations

So, as I mentioned here, I am planning, way in advance for my birthday which is still over a month from now. This morning I made some invitations. Just thought I would share them. I think I may disappear for a few days, I need a bit of a break.

Inspiration

I apologize for the double posting today. I know I have been posting a lot, but I really felt I needed to post this right now. At some point tonight it rained a little bit and I was sitting outside right afterward, the smell was amazing. It's one of my favorite smells, I just wish that I could somehow reproduce it. Anyway, after this, while I was sitting on the back step, the sprinklers turned on and the pattern that they made on our back patio was for some reason very inspiring to me, it was creeping along in that way that water has. I took this inspiration and decided to re-do the wall in my room where I put up things that inspire me (as I hadn't in over a year). In case you are wondering about half of the things on there now are Marc Jacobs ads, because I love his clothes and also really enjoy Juergen Teller's photos. That then inspired me to make a new piece of art... let me know what you think, please! That is all I had to say for now.

Night!

Creative

Today I went to The Paper Source, one of my favorite stores and bought some blank cards to make postcards with. These are the first two... I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, but it felt so nice to be creative and make something again.
