Saturday

Strawberry Rhubarb

Peach

I went down to the Farmer's Market and got some of the last rhubarb of the season along with some of the first strawberries of the season so I could make a strawberry rhubarb pie. It turned out so delicious! And my crust was perfect! I'm so excited about it! I had a little leftover crust so I decided to make a mini peach pie. I just threw it together without a recipe which is something I don't usually do but it turned out wonderfully too.

Dad's

Garden

I spent last weekend with my dad, and some parts of his property out in the middle of nowhere are truly magical... as evidenced above. I took these at twilight, with the last of the light for the day, I wish there had been more light so I could show you more of his place.

Marsh's Free Museum

A week ago I went to the Coast and on Saturday we drove up to Long Beach, Washington. To play laser tag and visit Marsh's Free Museum. I had never been and I have to say, I was quite fascinated. It's one of those places that was called a museum in the early 20th century but is really just a building full of random curiosities from around the world. Most notably, Jake (see the last photo).

I actually watched a documentary about how they make shrunken heads once.

I have this thing about antlers... I think they're slightly amazing.

I am oh so glad I never had to make sodas with something like this.

A friendly Polar Bear, I think he looks like he wants to hug you goodbye. (This is over the door)

This sounds like the kind of political slogan I would come up with... probably why I'm not in politics...

And, finally, the reason we went to the Marsh's in the first place... Jake, the Alligator-Man.

Hello

Looking Down

This weekend had quite a few surprises behind it (both bad and good). I'll tell you all about it with lots more pictures later when I have less schoolwork to get done. I got new shoes... again... I really love the light at twilight (I feel so dirty using that word now... thanks a lot Stephanie Meyer).

Spring Break

It's spring break. I need a job. For some reason I don't have anything to talk about right now. I'm about to start my laundry. Yesterday I was a white rabbit, tomorrow I am going to see Alice in Wonderland. I am excited for life. My good friend Jenni took this.

Today

Pitcher

I am currently in Bend, watching my younger brother for the weekend. I love the light in my parent's house.

Although I've been busy with school, I have had the most amazing dreams lately. The kind that make me want to stay in bed and go back to sleep so they can continue and I don't have to deal with life anymore. I'm not feeling all that great right now, so I might just spend the weekend in bed, trying to keep from getting sick.

This Weekend

Haystack

Watching

Last Moments

Us

In addition to coffee on Friday my weekend included many things... a trip to the coast with my oldest and one of my best friends, a moment of realization that led to a temporary breakdown, a day of recovery in bed following said breakdown, spending time getting to know someone I'm going to spend five minutes speaking in German in front of a class with, making up an experience for my homework. Overall it was a good weekend, there was plenty of sunshine and I got out of my apartment for a good portion of it. I'm working on being better about that. I'll have more pictures from the coast when I get some film developed... so soonish.

Coffeecake

Coffeecake

Coffeecake, sunshine, the weekend... what else could I want?

Next time I'll have to make a different crumb topping, this one just doesn't taste quite as good as it should.

I may disappear for a while, this weekend brought lots of things... I don't really know what to think right now.

Sleepy Times

I'm alone again, there isn't anyone here to make me rice anymore. But the weekend was glorious and fall is out in full colors. I have a not-so-busy school week ahead of me, hopefully I'll take the time to have lots and lots of fun.
I got up at five this morning and am feeling quite exhausted (I've uncharacteristically not taken any significant naps yet today). This week I don't have much going on so I plan on doing a little bit of cleaning, taking some photos of the foliage, and perhaps finding some new places to enjoy that are nearby.

Happy Weekend!

So this weekend, Shawn is coming to visit. In fact he will be here in about five and a half hours. I am quite excited. I think we're going to go to a corn maze one day. I can't wait, I hope it is kind of foggy and I can convince the person driving us to go early and see the pumpkin patch or go through both the mazes. I'll take lots of pictures, I promise, but I won't be here til next week. Enjoy the lovely autumn breezes and rains! (or whatever other weather autumn is bringing your way, I hear it's supposed to be in the 70's in Bend)

A lazy Monday

For some reason the past couple of days I have been sleeping in even later than usual. It's a habit I need to break because it leaves me tired from getting too much sleep. It's always seemed strange to me that you get tired if you sleep for too long.

Sorry I disappeared over the weekend, I was busy watching bicyclists go in circles at dizzying speeds, working on one of the busiest days of the summer so far, sleeping, watching movies with Shawn (I've given up on the nickname idea, that is just silly), floating the river, playing horseshoes in the dark and finding fellow lovers of Pushing Daisies (which if you didn't know finished out it's second season in May and June... Why didn't anyone tell me? Oh, well I will find out the ending tonight). Sounds like a pretty boring weekend, but I think that I have come to love summer, much like this sweet girl down in California.

I wouldn't say that I never liked summer, it just isn't my favorite season, I definately prefer autumn or winter, give me cold weather that I can bundle up in and enjoy a hot cup of tea without feeling ridiculous. However, I think that summer is finding a new place in my heart. Despite that I am beginning to think my skin is biting itself I keep finding so many random new bugbites on me and the near 100 degree heat. Yes, this summer is making me reconsider the feelings I had for the season of sun before, maybe it's just that this year I am actually doing all the fabulous things I have always wanted to spend my summer doing and making new friends along the way.

Whatever the case I have to say that the colors of summer will probably never be my favorite, and that it will probably always make me long to be living in a beach house that is painted something similar to the colors in this photo. Perhaps I'm crazy, but a faded seafoam green cottage on the beach... sounds perfect for a summer getaway.

The Weekend

My weekend was filled with family, cars, allergies, and happiness. I'm not sure if I feel like elaborating right now, but I think I will, just because I'm not going to be able to sleep for a little while and need something to occupy my time (oh, the joys of insomnia!). Anyway, this weekend was my great-grandparents's 70th wedding anniversary! Now that is something to aspire to! Anyway, this means I headed over to the valley (I'm sure most people have no idea what I'm talking about when I say that), for their party. While I was there I also visited my grandparents who own the adorable car that I will say more about at a later time in the first picture. I spent my favorite time of summer days, twilight, in their beautiful garden and snapped a few pictures between my sneezes and sniffles. Today, after driving home, I went to see that certain someone, who I need to come up with some kind of short, easy nickname for on here. Anyway, we spent most of the day together just getting to know each other better, I think that is the best part of any relationship, just sitting and talking with someone for hours without having to worry about anything and learning things you wouldn't otherwise learn. He also lent me a copy of Alice in Wonderland which I have been meaning to read since I was about nine, so I will now, finally, be able to take that off my list! I hope that everyone else in the world had as good of a weekend as I did (I already know of a few people that didn't, but I'm hoping they are the only ones).
