Forgotten

I forgot that I had pictures from the beginning of the month sitting in my digital camera until I went and took some pictures today.

On the River

Still

Stream

These are from the day after 4th of July (July 5th?), I woke up before everyone else and took this little guy for a walk along the Lewis River (I was staying at my dad's up in Washington).

He looks like a puppy but he's nearly two! He just got all his hair cut off for the summer.

Pancakes
I also found this on there, at the beginning of the month I ate cinnamon pancakes every day for about a week, one day I even put strawberries in them, they were delicious.

I forgot to mention; lately my dreams have been very strange and I've remembered them (the first part of that is pretty normal but the second isn't). Last night for example, I dreamt that I got lost while on a walk (the part before this was just strange and hard to explain so I'm just going to describe the disgusting part for your reading pleasure) and then in order to get back to where I started I had to crawl through a large pile of animal skins and fat, at the time (in my dream) I made a comment about how this was definitely enough to make me become a vegetarian again. When I woke up this morning I was seriously considering it... I have since changed my mind but decided that if that ever did happen I would most likely stop eating meat.

Coffeecake

Coffeecake

Coffeecake, sunshine, the weekend... what else could I want?

Next time I'll have to make a different crumb topping, this one just doesn't taste quite as good as it should.

Today

I forgot my camera today, so these were taken with my phone. I went over to Stepping Stone to work on some homework, I just needed a change of scenery to get myself to actually get something done. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Pie

This last weekend, I made pie. It's delicious! Pear and cranberry, I told Nicole I would show her how to make pie and I had to do a bit of practicing to make sure I still knew how.

Distractions

I've discovered, in my search for something to distract myself, that my windowsill makes an excellent place on which to take photos. I had a peach today, it was like I was trying to hold onto memories from the summer and bring them back. It's funny how peaches are the color of summer and autumn. They are most definitely one of my favorite flavors, and that flavor just screams of summer to me.

What I do when I'm bored

I forget about everything, so sticky notes are my best friend. Although, I have to say I think I may have put too much effort into these ones (I plan on re-using the green ones as I continue to run out of the same things and forgetting about it over and over this year). Hey, at least I was some-what productive, right?

Oh, I almost forgot, I am considering taping/gluing an actual almond onto the picture of the almond butter jar, what do you think?

Last Days

Well, the time has come, there are only two more days left until I head back up north (that is an over-statement, Portland is north of Bend, but not by much on world distance standards). I've had random people ask me to do things before I leave and when I get up there, but my plans are pretty well set (at least for me they seem to be, I don't really plan). I move on Saturday, spend Sunday with my family, get settled in on Monday, possibly spend Tuesday at the zoo, then on Wednesday... GO TO SEE MODEST MOUSE!

I think I may get overly-excited about these things.

Anyway, I have lots to get done tomorrow (when I say that I mean Thursday) and Friday, but I can't seem to get to sleep tonight, even though I am actually pretty tired. It seems that sleep has been eluding me more and more this summer, I don't know how I am going to survive with that 8am class this fall... lots and lots of coffee and chai, that's for sure.

Here are a few things I have been meaning to share with everyone for the past week or so:

These are the deer that live near Shawn's house. I think it's a little bit funny how excited he and his parents get about them, but that's because when I was younger herds of 10-20 deer roamed my neighborhood and attacked my mother's flower gardens, so I think of them as flower-destroyers, not the cute little things they really are, especially the fawns.

This is the first of my breakfasts a couple of days ago. It was a failure though, we were out of milk, so no cereal for me (wait until you hear about the rest of it).

This was attempt number two at breakfast, looks like some yummy sourdough toast, right? Nope, that is GARLIC sourdough bread, no thanks, not with my orange juice.

This is what I finally ended up trying to actually eat for breakfast that day. However, I forgot: I don't really like peanut butter very much.

This is the peanut butter I eat, I love it, as much as I can love peanut butter (I can't). In fact, I think I am going to switch to almond butter, it's so much more delicious.

So those are some silly, random things that have been going on, this just makes me look like a really boring person.

I apologize to anyone that I just put to sleep, hopefully you don't drool too much and ruin your computers.

Delicious

This morning, something rare happened. I woke up hungry. I am not the kind of person that likes to eat in the morning but I woke up wanting oatmeal and then I realized that I had fresh strawberries too. This resulted in a delicious breakfast of two of my favorite things being combined into one. Oh yummy goodness!

Berries, Berries, and oh, yeah, berries!

So, there are a couple of very different things I feel like talking about tonight. The first are berries. Holy moly! I love all berries and today was Wednesday which means the Farmer's Market was out here in Bend. I recieved these strawberries from a friend in exchange for a milkshake at work (ok, so they work with me and it was their day off, I wouldn't normally exchange like that). Anyway, they were kind enough to let me have a couple of their yellow raspberries as well. I had never had one before today. I have to say, I think they are better than the red ones for sure.

The other thing I wanted to talk about is a little project I began working on today. Hopefully, it will bring some happiness to some people's days when it is all finished, but first I need to get folding and tag-making. I'll share more about that when there is some more done.

Well, that was it really, I am looking forward to this weekend. It should be a good one, I just have to get there first.

Happiness

I am posting early today because I actually have a lot of plans... sort of... well, it's a lot for me. Anyway, these are more pictures from my recent film batch, they are evidence that I should not bring my film camera when it is dark out, I just end up taking really blurry pictures. However, I like these two a lot, so maybe it's a good thing I do stupid things. In case you are wondering (which I'm sure no one is), today my plans are to see Public Enimies and then perhaps go get tea, visit the farmer's market, and sit in the park with a friend of mine (who may become more than a friend in the future, my fingers are crossed). I will of course bring my camera along to share my lovely day with everyone. I hope that you have just as wonderful a day!

Mornings

I cannot sleep right now, it's much too late for me to be typing, so I apologize in advance for any typos. I want to talk about mornings right now. Morning is an interesting time for me, depending on how I'm feeling I could be up in time to catch the end of it or just sleep right through it, but no matter when I wake up I almost always seem to catch the beginning of it. In fact, going back to school has always been difficult for me because I am a night owl and don't do well in the morning. I've learned to force myself to get up though. Breakfast is one part of morning-time that I really have mixed feelings on, I love breakfast food, like the cinnamon toast I had this morning (I suppose it is now, technically, yesterday morning), or pretty much everything I have ever eaten at Stepping Stone. Anyway, the one part of morning that I have always loved is the light. And the other part that I have come to love is coffee, and along with coffee, coffee cups (like mine from Anthropologie, have I mentioned I am obsessed with everything in that store?).

Simplicity

Today I found this adorable agenda and it inspired me to begin the process of simplifying and organizing my life. I have been planning on going through this in the summer, but I think I will begin now, as I get ready to pack all my things up here.
I also found some delicious cottage cheese and strawberries today, they made a tasty snack.

Sunshine

Yesterday I went to Hawthorne, an artsy part of town and walked around with a good friend of mine, Rachel. We visited some great places! Including one that she and Nicole talked about earlier on their blog, the Waffle Window! This was seriously the best waffle I have ever had! And it came covered in strawberries and whipped cream, oh goodness. Rachel got the hot fudge sundae waffle, which explains itself. We then headed back over the river and wandered the residential streets of Northwest Portland, and to finish this day, we met up with Nicole and went for some more delicious food at the Stepping Stone Cafe. Overall a great day... that felt like the summer that isn't here yet. Today was just as wonderful in a very different way, so I think I will save it for later tonight.

Getting lost in the dark

So I have been busy enjoying the sunshine, to some extent, as well as suffering greatly from my allergies... pooey. This weekend was so amazing I can not describe it in words, but here are a few pictures from a small excursion with Rachel on Friday to Alberta St.
The pastries here were amazing, I want to go back in the morning some time when they will be fresh.

Busses always make us sleepy, we could sleep the entire trip to and from Alberta St.
